The Surgeon

“The Surgeon,” is based on the life of Dominique Larrey, the great surgeon of Napoleon’s army.  The Larrey story is a historical drama in the fashion of “Gladiator,” “Laurence of Arabia” and “Paths of Glory.”  During his last voyage to Algeria, Larrey reconciles his iconic life with the incomplete and imperfect private life he leaves behind. 

“The Surgeon” is a story about duty, regret, love and faith.

Two women become cell mates in prison. Maria has just been sentenced for killing her husband. Isabel has already been serving time for war crimes. Maria suffers pangs of conscience and is plagued by nightmares. Isabel is remorseless for crimes she maintains were justified. Tensions mount as they make moral judgments against each other. Only one can survive.
